Epic Games Store launching in 2019 with 88% revenue sharing compared to Googles 70%

It was Fortnite which introduced Epic Games to the general masses. It was speculated that Fortnite will launch for android users but it would bypass Google Play Store and that is what happened, Speculations became reality and fortnite for android which was exclusively for Samsung users. They had a partnership with Samsung to offer applications exclusively on Galaxy App Store. After the deal was over they made users download fortnite from their website

Now Epic Games have intentions to end the reign of google play by introducing their own store. But going head to head with google is not an easy job so Epic Games have come up with one big attraction i.e. developers will get 88% of the revenues which means epic games will take only 12% of all profits. To differentiate it from google play store developers only earn 70% and 30% is earned by google. And in case of Epic Games adding cherry to the top if you are using unreal engine then the 5% royalty will be taken out of Epic’s 12% profit not your 88%.

Epic Games store is being targeted toward gamers. It will open up in early 2019 with a set of curated games that run on PC and Mac. And it will be opening up for android and other platforms later on in the year. There are certain principles the store will operate upon and all of them are set on establishing a shared space for both developers, content creators and gamers uniformly. For You Tubers and Twitch streamers there would be a referral program in which they can refer players to buy games on the store and earn money.

To jumpstart their model Epic games will cover the first 5% of creator’s revenue sharing for first 24 months of the service. The company has also said that they will reveal more details on December 6th, at The Game Awards in Los Angeles.
